Here We Go Again People: Live at Hello Brooklyn The Brooklyn Banger Concert Series

The folks over at Brooklyn Banger are gear up for the next installation of the series, only this time even better! Check out some of the featured artist below.

So often we've heard stories of young African-American males succumbing to the call of inner city street life by chasing the dream of expensive cars and fast money. Having parents who battled drug addiction and were in and out of prison, one would expect a child to be influenced by the major authority figures in their lives but not Travis "Bossman" Holifield, who found sanctuary in writing and creating music. Growing up in Baltimore City home of HBO's "The Wire" and "Homicide: Life on the Streets", Bossman was able to put a positive spin on the negative light that his city has been placed in creating and selling hit mix tapes which would give birth to Baltimore's street anthem "O" and the hit singles "I Did It" and "Off da Record" which was a five minute record that flooded the Mid-Atlantic as it touched on real life topics such as politics relating not only to music but the world and religion . These songs and four others were produced by 1 Up Entertainment who has also produced tracks for mainstream artist such as Keyshia Cole, J-Lo, Jahiem, Raheem DeVaughn, Sisqo, and Ice Cube. Those mix tape would go on to sell 25,000 copies leading to Bossman's independently released "Law and Order" which sold 10,000 copies just months after it's release date.

Balance, answers Kel Spencer to the question “What is the key to life?” This Brooklyn native lives up to that response in every sense of the word. Not only is Kel Spencer often called the best rapper you’ve never heard of but he’s also Co-Chairman of his own imprints 3RD Power Music Group & Double L Communications. He’s a public speaker and ghostwriter for artists such as Nick Cannon, MC Lyte, Wyclef Jean, Teddy Riley and Will Smith co-writing songs like the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD WINNING “Switch.” While finishing his own album, Kel is also a community leader preparing to launch his Pens of Power after school literacy program, and is the Co-Author of a weekly devotional entitled "L. Bennett's Weekly Bread." While occasionally writing commercial jingles and Theme Songs, it’s safe to call this A Balancing Act. Kel Spencer The Promise set aside his promising future in football while attending Morgan State declaring that, “GOD blessed me with more than one gift and I think I can help a greater cause by doing the music thang.” His gift has been displayed on dozens of mix-tapes, along with an unparalleled live stage presence with over 75 showcases including his own monthly ‘Secret Showcase.’ Kel most recently was featured on projects like DJ Jazzy Jeff's "Return of The Magnificent" while his single “The Building” has made rotation on MTV-Base & Channel U in The UK and neighboring regions. His vocals have been heard on The Wild Wild West Soundtrack, Will Smiths Willennium, and Born to Reign. Additionally, Kel has acquired press in/on E! Entertainment, SMACK DVD, XXL Magazine, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, BILLBOARD, VIBE, ESPN Magazine, HUSH, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED (On Campus Edition), BLACK BEAT, HIP HOP CONNECTION and loads of e-magazines. Kel fulfilled all of these accomplishments while on a strict athletic regiment and taking care of educational business pursuits at Morgan State University’s Earl G. Graves School of Business. As a New York All City quarterback, at Brooklyn’s Canarsie High School, Lennie Bennett aka Kel Spencer, has always had the passion for leadership and winning. “I think that humans have an innate need to believe in something, It’s just in our nature to want better. But black music as a whole doesn’t feed that need,” says Kel. “I want the 3RD Power brand to fill that void. Partying, having fun and making money are all cool but we need to keep an eye on the big picture at the same time.” With an emerging international presence, and an undeniable Live Stage Show, Kel is focused on branding and building his buzz to snowball into his debut album, ONE WAY, set for release in 2009. The Who Is Kel Spencer?, Brooklyn Spartans, and Global Connection Mixtapes, all aid in my street buzz but I want to truly establish myself as a brand rather than just have two decent singles and disappear. I’ve seen all of the success stories and all of the failures. By intertwining my creativity with my God given charisma and just good Hip Hop music, I have a winning formula. A formula, that even the big companies ignore. I’m the Block Apostle, you’ll see. Dubbed the Hip Hop Moses, Mr. Spencer intends on leading us to the Promised Land. Kel Spencer The Promise, hmmm sounds promising.
